Woodlands Park Community First Responders are just one of many groups of Volunteers within Berkshire working alongside South Central Ambulance Service providing life saving skills.
As we all know a Ambulance is always sent to anyone that has called 999 and requested an ambulance .Whilst the ambulance is on route to scene, a local volunteer can be called by Ambulance control to attend a 999 Cat A (Emergency Life Threatening) call within the local area to where the volunteer lives.
Because of the locality of the Volunteer to the incident the volunteer can arrive on scene within a shorter space of time than the ambulance crew in most cases. The South Central Ambulance trained Volunteer than gives life saving treatment until the Ambulance arrives.
Community First Responders are sent to Life Threatening Conditions as well as a normal Emergency Ambulance. NOT instead of.

All Community First Responders DO NOT use Blue Lights or Sirens and must obey all usual traffic laws as per the Highway Code.

Community First Responders have NO right of way at traffic lights and cannot jump traffic lights.
